Town Music: ‘we do it to one another,’ Poetry and Performance Featuring Joshua Roman, Tracy K. Smith, and Jessica Rivera
$10-$25
Beloved Town Music Curator Joshua Roman was commissioned to write a song cycle setting music to Tracy K. Smith’s 2011 Pulitzer Prize-winning collection of poetry Life on Mars – as a result, Roman’s we do it to one another was born. The evening will feature a performance of the piece by acclaimed soprano Jessica Rivera (conducted by Roman himself), reading by Smith, and a conversation between the artists on the creative process, music, and poetry.
The Seattle premiere of this piece is an unprecedented partnership between Town Hall and local literary organization Seattle Arts & Lectures, bringing together all the elements we love about events here – community, collaboration, and creation of new work. Truly history in the making.
Admission: $20 advance / $25 at the door / $20 seniors / $17 Town Hall members / $10 students. A limited number of $5 day-of-show Teen Tix for those 18 and under also will be available.
