One of the most beloved texts set by choral composers is the Magnificat, the Biblical prayer of Mary after she learned that she was to give birth to Jesus. We will explore the approaches of four different composers to this text, including the German Baroque master Hieronymus Praetorius and three modern composers such as Arvo Pärt.

Three of history's greatest composers – Victoria, Bruckner, and Rachmaninoff – provide compelling and diverse settings of the Ave Maria prayer. This concert also features works by three Northwest composers: Sheila Bristow, Peter Chamberlain, and our Composer-in-Residence, Reginald Unterseher.

Admission: $20 adult, $15 student/senior ($17/$12 online). Under 18 free with adult.
