Hot on the heels of The Ambassador, hailed by Rolling Stone as "one of the year's very best albums", singer-songwriter Gabriel Kahane teams up with string quartet Brooklyn Rider to celebrate their new collaborative album, The Fiction Issue. They'll be playing selections from the new record, as well as songs from The Ambassador and selections from Brooklyn Rider's Almanac. The Fiction Issue can be previewed and pre-ordered at gabrielkahane.bandcamp.com.

Songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Gabriel Kahane was born in seedy Venice Beach in 1981. Since then, he's released four albums, most recently The Ambassador, which in 2014 was staged at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in a critically-acclaimed production directed by Tony-winner John Tiffany. Gabriel has collaborated with a raft of musicians including Sufjan Stevens, Rufus Wainwright, Punch Brothers, Blake Mills, and composer John Adams. He's been commissioned by, among others, Carnegie Hall, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and The Public Theater, which staged his musical February House in 2012. In March, he'll make his European debut with concerts in London, Paris, and Helsinki. Then in April, he'll be on tour with composer/pianist Timo Andres, culminating in a recital at Carnegie Hall. He lives in Brooklyn.

Hailed as “the future of chamber music” (Strings), the game-changing string quartet Brooklyn Rider presents eclectic repertoire and gripping performances that continue to draw rave reviews from classical, world, and rock critics alike. NPR credits Brooklyn Rider with “recreating the 300-year-old form of string quartet as a vital and creative 21st-century ensemble,” the Los Angeles Times dubs the group “one of the wonders of contemporary music,” and Vice likens its members to “motocross daredevils who never screw up a stunt.” Equally at home in clubs and concert halls, the quartet has played venues as varied as Carnegie’s Zankel Hall, the San Francisco Jazz Festival, Le Poisson Rouge, Japan’s Todai-ji, Lincoln Center, Brooklyn’s Littlefield, the Library of Congress, the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and South by Southwest. Through visionary programming and global collaborations, Brooklyn Rider’s “down-to-earth demeanor … demystifies contemporary classical music and invites everyone into the tent” (Time Out New York).
