José Luis Muñoz has been described as “a fabulous countertenor” with “amazing, powerful expression.” He has premiered and created new works and principal roles in San Francisco, LA, Seattle, and Cologne, Germany, and has been featured in the Los Angeles Times.
His versatility has allowed him to work with the San Francisco Baroque Opera, Mission Cultural Center & Theater Artaud in San Francisco and the Foro Cultural Coyoacanense Hugo Argüelles in Mexico among others. José Luis is the owner and Director of his own company, JLM Music Academy, where he works as a music instructor teaching voice, piano, and viola.
Teo Benson, BCO concertmaster, began playing violin at the age of five and has won scholarships and concerto competitions in Washington State and Colorado. He holds a Master of Music degree in Violin Performance from the University of Washington where he began studying with internationally acclaimed violinist Ron Patterson. Mr. Benson is a member of the Tacoma Symphony. He has recorded and performed his original compositions as lead instrumentalist with the jazz/funk fusion band, Stop, Thief! and performs regularly with the Seattle-based, folk rock band The Crying Shame. Mr. Benson has also performed as soloist in Guadalajara, Mexico. As a teaching artist, Mr. Benson directs the Halcyon Music School in Ballard where he maintains a full studio of students.
