Handel – Concerto Grosso
Milhaud – Chamber Symphony No. 5 for 10 winds
Mozart – Symphony No. 29

Since its founding in 2014, North Corner Chamber Orchestra has made a splash in the region’s musical scene. The unique conductor-less ensemble performs music of extremely diverse range – all with the spontaneity and flexibility of chamber music.

Their special performance at the Resonance Hall includes a Handel Concerto Grosso featuring NOCCO principal string soloists Victoria Parker and Blayne Barnes, violin, and Eli Weinberger, cello. Originally composed as filler music in the intervals of Handel’s grand English Oratorios, he sought to elevate the form and drew on musical styles from all around Europe, making these pieces sizzle with inventiveness.

Milhaud’s Chamber Symphony No. 5 for 10 winds highlights one of the orchestra's unique treasures: its full complement of solo winds, each player a revered chamber musician. The Milhaud, composed in 1922, has a distinctive jazz-inspired modality that borders on atonality.

Finally, strings and winds will come together for Mozart’s beloved Symphony No. 29, a piece known as his most chamber music-like large-scale work. The diverse repertoire showcases the virtuosity and collaborative power of the ensemble. The excitement and joy of music-making from this group of dynamic professional musicians is an experience not to be missed!
