Strauss – Metamorphosen for 23 Solo Strings
Beethoven – Piano Concerto No. 1 in C major, Op. 15
Mendelssohn transformed the haunting landscape of the Scottish archipelago known as the Hebrides into an evocative concert overture. Strauss penned a deeply personal, enigmatic study for 23 string soloists. Beethoven showed audiences the full extent of his keyboard prowess in his bombastic first piano concerto. SMCO brings these bold works to life in the opening performance of the Eighth Season, Metamorphosis.
