When exploring the song output of the who's-who of 20th century English song, it is almost impossible to avoid the name Thomas Hardy. His poetry inspired composers like John Ireland, Benjamin Britten, and Gerald Finzi, to name a few.
This recital features two cycles by Gerald Finzi, Till Earth Outwears and A Young Man's Exhortation, both of which are settings of the poetry of Thomas Hardy.
