Brahms – Violin Concerto in D major
Tchaikovsky – Suite No. 4 in G major
Mozart’s majestic yet comical Don Giovanni has been an inspiration for many composers who came after him, including Tchaikovsky, who wrote his orchestral suite in honor of Mozart as an attempt to recreate “the past in a contemporary world.” The concert also features Lauren Roth, the concertmaster of Tucson Symphony, performing Brahms’ timeless Violin Concerto.
