Dvořák’s In Nature’s Realm, part of the trilogy of Nature, Life and Love, was considered by the composer to be among his best orchestral works. Mahler’s famous song cycle, Songs of the Wayfarer, describes a young man wounded by unrequited love but finding comfort in nature. Mendelssohn’s third symphony commemorates the magical countryside of Scotland.
