Beethoven – Piano Quartet in E-flat major, Op. 16
Schoenberg – Verklärte Nacht, Op. 4 (1899)
Schumann – Piano Quintet in E-flat major, Op. 44

Beethoven’s towering influence over younger generations is clearly audible in the music of Schumann and Schoenberg – two composers who were central to the beginning and end of the romantic era. At the heart of the program is Schoenberg’s Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night) for string sextet, one of the most passionate and awe-inspiring works of the entire chamber music literature.

There will be an interactive question & answer session with the artists immediately following this performance.
