Schubert – Fantasy in F minor for Piano Four Hands, D. 940
Beethoven – Violin Sonata No. 7 in C minor, Op. 30 No. 2
Schubert – Piano Trio No. 1 in B-flat major, D. 898
Although Franz Schubert died only one year after Beethoven’s death, his thirty-first and final year of life was one the most artistically productive and inspired of any composer in history. His musical language ranges from the tragic melancholy of the Fantasy in F minor for Piano Four Hands to the lyrical majesty of the colossal Piano Trio in B-flat major. Beethoven’s fiery Violin Sonata in C minor highlights the contrast between these two composer’s musical worlds.
There will be an interactive question & answer session with the artists immediately following this performance.
