Robert Schumann – Three Romances, Op. 94
Igor Stravinsky – Duo Concertant
Bohuslav Martinů – Trio for flute, viola, and piano
Ludwig van Beethoven – Septet in E-flat major, Op. 20

Though written for just two musicians, Stravinsky's ambitious Duo Concertant takes on the spirit of a full-fledged concerto. Stravinsky crafted this lean instrumentation for his own concert touring, faced with the prospect of performing in cities without established orchestras. Beethoven's Septet follows suit with sublime symphonic feeling for modest forces.
