Program Notes
Schubert's String Trio exists in two versions. The second one includes more solo moments for both the violinist and violist. It gives the impression of Schubert’s later music, full of the emotion that defined him.

Poulenc found his voice by combining piano (which he often played) with his beloved woodwinds. This work has a playful nature throughout.

One of the great pieces in the repertoire, Brahms' Piano Quintet started as a string quintet before he abandoned that version for a two-piano version. Still not satisfied with that version, he reworked it once more for a piano quintet.
