The Academy Chamber Orchestra (ACO) is a premier Youth Chamber Orchestra in the Pacific Northwest. Their musicians have won numerous awards and honors on their respective instruments. Graduates from ACO have gone on to attend the Curtis Institute, the Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, Eastman School of Music, the Cleveland Institute, the Peabody Conservatory, Harvard, Rice University, etc. The ACO provides an opportunities for our musicians to read and perform concerto repertoire with the orchestra. As a result of this valuable experience, many of their students are selected to perform concertos with major orchestras in the Pacific Northwest. In addition, ACO premieres new compositions – some by their own students – and performs world music from many cultures that are not typically included in the European classical tradition.
