Free (Free)
Edgard Varèse – Poème électronique
Francis Dhomont – Novars
Richard Karpen – The Other
The Center for Digital Art and Experimental Media and the School of Music present a program of classic works for loudspeaker orchestra. The New Art: Varèse’s groundbreaking sound “poem,” composed for Le Corbusier’s Philips Pavilion at the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair; Dhomont’s reflection on the birth of musique concrète, the Ars Nova of our time; and Karpen on hearing of music from without and the “imaginary” music from within.
