On December 13 at 7pm Eastern / 4pm Pacific, Con Alma, a live binational communal experience broadcast from Mexico City and New York City will be released on digital platforms, TV and radio presented by National Sawdust, the Mexican Ministry of Culture, TV Canal 22, WNET All Arts, and WQXR.

Con Alma is also an album of original works by composer Paola Prestini and vocalist and composer Magos Herrera that explores the question of how we can find communion in a time of isolation.

The music and concept for Con Alma grew out of the personal and collective experience of this moment of deep division and isolation and uses music to create a shared sense of the experiences that we are all going through together, alone. Over 2 million viewers are anticipated to tune in on public TV, radio, and screens in over 10 major Mexican cities and throughout the U.S.

Ashley Tata, currently an artist-in-residence at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and one of the foremost theatrical and multimedia directors, is creating the live digital experience of music videos, live-drawings by Kevork Mourad, and real-time storytelling with the creators and performers of these works.

The album features over thirty musicians from around the world who recorded in isolation including the all-women Leipzig based Ensemble Sjaella; Constellation Chor featuring Marisa Michelson; the Young People’s Chorus of NYC; Orquesta Sinfónica de Minería, Mexico’s top symphony orchestra; former Kronos Quartet cellist Jeffrey Zeigler; Silk Road clarinetist Kinan Azmeh; multi-instrumentalist Gonzalo Grau; jazz guitarist Romero Lubambo; guitarist and composer Vincius Gomes; and multi-instrumentalist Diego Schissi.

The livestream will take place at 7pm Eastern / 4pm Pacific.
