Tyshawn Sorey’s effortless mastery and extraordinary ability to blend composition and improvisation in his work are on full display in his world premiere piece for cello and orchestra, For Roscoe Mitchell, featuring cellist and former Seattle Symphony Artist in Residence Seth Parker Woods. Beethoven’s joyful Fourth Symphony completes a special evening of juxtaposing old with new, classical with modern, 19th century Europe with 21st century America.
