Alyssa Morris – Shine (world premiere)
Valerie Coleman – Red Clay & Mississippi Delta
William Grant Still – Selections from Miniatures for Woodwind Quintet

The Houston-based professional ensemble ROCO continues its musician-curated Unchambered series with a nature-inspired program featuring ROCO’s Principal Winds and two world premiere commissions by Season 16 Composer-in-Residence, Alyssa Morris.

Streamed live in partnership with and from The Alta Arts, the concert will present the premieres of Morris’ Konza Parable for wind quintet, inspired by the seasonal fires of Kansas’s Konza Prairie, and Shine for oboe and percussion. Valerie Coleman’s blues fantasia Red Clay & Mississippi Delta, plus William Grant Still’s “Miniatures for Woodwind Quintet” complete the program.

ROCOrooters In The Cloud is available in conjunction with all of ROCO’s In Concert and Unchambered performances during the 2020-2021 season. This virtual music education program includes free, downloadable materials so the whole family can enjoy the concerts together, and an interactive follow-up lesson for children is presented each following Saturday. More info, and free registration here: https://roco.org/rocorooters/

The livestream will take place at 7pm Central / 5pm Pacific. Broadcasting live from The Alta Arts in Houston, TX.
