About the 2021 Bellingham Festival of Music: We are thrilled to announce that the Festival’s live performances will resume this summer in the Western Washington University Performing Arts Center, July 10–18. Tickets go on sale June 1.
Because of lingering Covid-19 cases in Whatcom County and our status in Governor Inslee’s pandemic reopening plan, this will not be a season like other seasons. In following the guidance of the County Health Department, we will not able to present a full three-weeks of music-making, but will offer three orchestra and two chamber music programs in nine days. To conform to requirements for social distancing, the orchestra will be limited to 26 players, mostly strings. Similarly, we will not be able to seat as many listeners as usual at each concert. Therefore, most concerts will be performed twice. Please refer to our Covid Health and Safety protocols for full details: http://bellinghamfestival.org/about-the-festival/covid-19-protocols/
Even as we make these accommodations, we are delighted to once again assemble some of our wonderful orchestra musicians under the direction of Artistic Director and Conductor Michael Palmer. We will hear them not only in orchestral works but in chamber music as well. And we are thrilled to welcome back our ensemble-in-residence, the Calidore String Quartet, whose members will not only perform their own program but display their individual virtuosity as concerto soloists.
The concert will take place at 7:30pm.
Tickets are available for purchase by emailing Jessie Phillips, WWU Box Office Manager, at [email protected]. Include your name and phone number in your email. Jessie will call you and process your order. Her direct line is (360) 650-6103, leave your name & number for a return call. Unfortunately, patrons have found the WWU online ticketing website to be frustrating.
Tickets: $50 ($35 WWU faculty, $25 WWU students). There will be 20 free tickets at every concert for first responders.
