Seattle Historical Arts for Kids: Medieval Arts Pop-Up Performance
Free
Join SHAK for a medieval arts pop-up performance! Enjoy medieval music & calligraphy in a festive open-air presentation... Our first live event since January 2020!
Longtime SHAK student and guest singers share a casual performance of catchy tunes from the 13th & 14th centuries — plus live demonstration of calligraphy of the period! Students in period costume are led by SHAK director Shulamit Kleinerman on vielle (medieval fiddle), with instrumental selections by guest artists Ruthie Dornfeld (vielle), Sam Groom (vielle), and Bill McJohn (harp). Bring a picnic to hang out and listen or just stroll by for a few tunes.
This is a chance for our returning friends to greet one another again — and for local newcomers who’ve joined SHAK online in the past year to meet some of us in real life for the first time!
The concert will take place at 6:15pm at Warren G. Magnuson Park, Seattle, WA.
Enter the park at NE 65th St and join us at Picnic Shelter #2, which is accessible by the wide main walking path along the lake at Magnuson Park. To park in the nearest lot, drive down the park entrance from NE 65th toward the lot near the water. Turn left at the bottom of the entrance road, following signage for Swim Beach and Picnic Shelter #2.
