Richard Wagner – Die Walküre ("The Valkyrie"), WWV 86B

In celebration of our community and our return to in-person performances we invite you to join us for a spectacular outdoor event: our Welcome Back Concert of Die Walküre. The music of Richard Wagner's iconic opera will fill the Seattle Center campus from the Fisher Pavilion Lawn to the International Fountain and includes jumbo screens for all to enjoy. This abridged version of Die Walküre will feature more than two hours of Wagner’s incredible music kicking off with the ever-popular and blood-stirring “The Ride of the Valkyries.”

In this concert version of the opera, audiences will be treated to an internationally-renowned cast of Wagnerian stars. Two-time Grammy Award winner Eric Owens, "an American marvel," (Chicago Sun-Times) makes his Seattle Opera debut along with the "dramatically fearless" (The New York Times) tenor Brandon Jovanovich. Plus we are excited to welcome back Washington native and Richard Tucker Award winner Angela Meade, our spectacular Tosca soprano Alexandra LoBianco, and lauded bass Raymond Aceto. Wagner's larger-than-life masterpiece is brought to life by members of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra and conducted by former Music Director Ludovic Morlot.

This event will go on rain or shine.

The concert will take place at 7pm.

Masks will be required at entry in order to protect the youngest members of our community as well as those who are unable to be vaccinated. Once seated, audience members will be able to remove masks unless unvaccinated in which case masks are required throughout the event.

Tickets for this event are SOLD OUT.
