Words For Words From is a ritual transmission to and from the world of spirits and lost loved ones. This 35-minute, collaboratively devised performance blares the musicians' chosen words to those who are no longer living in a chaotic blend of text, drone, and noise. The group and the audience listen together for return messages.
Deidre Huckabay is a musician and artist making contemplative sounds and performative rituals. In Words For Words From, she gathers together a sextet of Chicago musicians, poets, and artists to create a real life funeral rite, a moment of musical mediumship, a fragile point of contact with an eternal world.
