ARTEK, based in New York City and with a stellar reputation as one of America’s top early music ensembles, offers a one-hour program of its signature repertoire, the madrigals of Claudio Monteverdi (1567-1643) from the beautiful sanctuary of St. Ignatius of Antioch Episcopal Church in New York City. The program features the Sestina, a 6-part madrigal cycle, and other madrigals written in response to the deaths of his wife and principal singer, due to sickness and plague, as well as other madrigals from Book 6 on themes of parting and separation. Sung in Italian by ARTEK's outstanding singers. “Deeply considered, beautifully sung...consistently polished, finely balanced performances.” – Allan Kozinn, The New York Times.

The broadcast will become available November 7 at 4pm Eastern / 1pm Pacific. Streaming through December 31 at 11:59pm Eastern / 8:59pm Pacific.
