Conrad Tao is reimagining what it means to be a classical musician in the 21st Century. A prodigiously gifted concert pianist and adventurous award-winning composer, Tao’s 2019 performance with violinist Stefan Jackiw in 92Y's Soundspace series left the audience enthralled, as did his dazzling Carnegie Hall debut. Tao makes his first appearance on our main stage with a program reflective of the stylistic and aesthetic range of his artistry. Juxtaposing masterworks by Schumann and Beethoven with a selection by John Adams, a Bach chorale, and short works of Tao’s own and of luminary composer Jason Ekhardt and the singular Fred Hersch, it’s an ideal program for exploring the genius of the artist New York magazine wrote is “shaping the future of classical music.”
Concert also available via livestream and available for 72 hours from time of broadcast.
Attending in person: Adults and children age 12+ must show proof of vaccination upon arrival at 92Y. Masks must be worn by everyone over the age of 2, regardless of vaccination status.
