Pictures at an Exhibition invites you to see the world in orchestral Technicolor. Musorgsky composed the work with feverish intensity after visiting a friend’s posthumous exhibit of watercolors and drawings, saying “Ideas, melodies, come to me of their own accord. … I can hardly manage to put it all down on paper fast enough.” From the opening “Promenade” to the majestic “Great Gate of Kiev,” this sonic masterpiece will send you home humming. Plus, hear Principal Viola Choong-Jin Chang perform Ke-Chia Chen’s colorful and passionate The Desires.
