Tchaikovsky wrote very little chamber music, including only three string quartets. His String Quartet No. 3 in E-Flat Minor is dedicated to the memory of Ferdinand Laub, who played first violin in the premieres of Tchaikovsky's first two quartets. The funeral movement is music of profound grief and revealing intimacy.
