The Frost Opera Theater and Frost Symphony Orchestra in their inaugural appearance at the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center (SMDCAC) present the highly anticipated world premiere opera The Leopard. Metropolitan Opera baritone Kim Josephson leads an all-star cast including Robynne Redmon, Frank Ragsdale, and Kevin Short, as well as the rising star students of the Frost School of Music. Nine-time Emmy winning, internationally renowned Maestro Gerard Schwarz conducts the Frost Symphony Orchestra.
Based on one of the greatest novels of the 20th Century, Il Gattopardo – later adapted to an award-winning feature film starring Burt Lancaster (1963 Cannes Film Festival Palme d'Or-winner) – the opera is the third and last collaboration between composer Michael Dellaira and the late librettist J.D. McClatchy.
Appropriate for ages 13 and up.
