The Baltimore Baroque Band, co-founded and directed by Peabody faculty artists John Moran and Risa Browder, takes concertgoers out for a night on the town in Leipzig circa 1730 with a program featuring an engaging mix of works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Georg Philipp Telemann, friends during their lifetimes and two of the most prolific composers in Western art music history. The evening includes a few lively works by Telemann: the Concerto in E minor for traverso and recorder, TWV 52:e1 featuring soloists Sarah Shodja (recorder) and Adam Eydelman (traverso); the Viola Concerto, TWV 51:G9 featuring Isaiah Chapman (baroque viola); and the Suite for two trumpets, strings, and basso continuo, TWV 55:D17 featuring Evan Kirshen and Dillon Parker on baroque trumpets. And the two Bach works—E major Violin Concerto, BWV 1042 featuring Gersh Chervinsky (baroque violin) and the Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 with solo violin and two solo recorders, BWV 1049 featuring Steph Zimmerman (baroque violin) and Teresa Deskur and Sarah Shodja on recorders—feature majestic interplay between soloists and ensemble.

This performance is free and open to the public. It will also be livestreamed.
