Sunday, April 24, 2022 @ 3:00pm – 4:30pm (PDT)
Oak Harbor First United Methodist Church, Oak Harbor, WA, United States

Join the musicians of Whidbey’s Saratoga Orchestra in a celebration of Earth Day 2022. Rhythms of Nature features percussion music, poetry and prose on April 23, 3:00pm at The Little Brown Church in Clinton and on April 24, 3:00pm at Oak Harbor Methodist Church.

Special poetry readings from Dallas Huth, Janice O’Mahony, Dianne Shiner, and Faith Wilder, collectively known as the Four Voices, will enhance this Earth Day experience.

Funds raised from this event will go toward student scholarships for the second annual PNW Percussion on the Rock, a summer workshop exploring percussion ensemble music held in July and sponsored by Whidbey’s Saratoga Orchestra.

In an effort to align our concert attendance policy with the new Washington State guidelines, Saratoga Orchestra will no longer be checking vaccination cards upon entry. The wearing of masks is encouraged but not mandatory.

About Saratoga Orchestra of Whidbey Island

Whidbey's Saratoga Orchestra formed as an expansion of the Saratoga Chamber Players founded by Whidbey Island's legendary violinist and arts supporter, Michael Nutt. Previously known as Saratoga Chamber Orchestra, the name is derived from the beautiful Saratoga Passage that flanks the east side of Whidbey Island and the stand of trees known as the Saratoga Woods. In 2007, Legh W. Burns, Music Director Emeritus, began a regular concert series performing throughout the island for Whidbey audiences. Dr. Anna Edwards has led the orchestra as Music Director since 2015, and has brought national attention to the ensemble for its innovative programming championing women, BIPOC and underrepresented composers and hosting the highly esteemed Pacific Northwest Conducting Institute held each summer.
