City Cantabile Choir will be singing songs from the Southern Harmony tradition of American Folk Songs, including favorites such as Shenandoah, Come Away to the Skies, Glory Bound, and others including Sacred Harp and Camp meeting songs. We will collaborate with Connie on her piece Restless Angel.
Connie Dover is an "American treasure who has rediscovered the musical synergy that existed between the British Isles and the American West". She is a 2017 inductee into the Missouri Music Hall of Fame, 2007 Emmy Award winner for Musical Composition and Arrangement, and winner of the Speakeasy prize in Poetry for her book Winter Count. Connie has recorded 6 albums with a broad repertoire ranging from Celtic ballads to the American West, and is well known for Celtic Voices. Her latest recording, Restless Angel, of 14 original songs, is rooted in American old-time music – telling stories of passion and regret, yearning and hope, and a deep love of the land.
