A performance and talk in the spirit of the music salons of 18th-century Berlin.
Harpischord virtuoso Mahan Esfahani celebrates the history and revival of the clavichord, with works by Spanish Renaissance composer Antonio Cabezon, German Baroque composer Johann Jakob Froberger, and J.S. Bach and his two eldest sons. Selections include JS Bach’s French Suite No. 2 in C Minor. Esfahani wrote eloquently about the clavichord in a New Yorker feature in 2020, noting that some believe it to have been Bach’s favorite instrument. A unique opportunity to experience the beautiful intimacy of an instrument common in Bach’s time, but rarely performed today.
Performances take place in the beautiful, intimate Arader Galleries, 1016 Madison Avenue (between 78th and 79th Streets)
