About Jae Kyo Han, piano

Jae Han is a Steinway Educational Partner, piano technician at the Soapbox Gallery, and founder of A4 Music Center. He began his musical studies at the age of 4, starting on violin and piano. Early on he began to compete, receiving top prizes in several competitions such as NEPTA, MMTA. Jae was also a finalist in the 14th Chiang Wen-Yeh International Young Artist Piano Competition. AtBrandeis University, Jae won the concerto competition and graduated magna cum laude with highest honors in music. He also received a second degree in philosophy. He was twice selected to perform at Carnegie Hall, both times as a winner of the American Fine Arts Festival. Jae has also participated in piano festivals in New York City (The Beethoven Institute, IKIF); Austria (Mozarteum International Summer Academy); and England (Oxford Philomusica).

Jae received his Master’s degree for classical piano performance at Mannes College for Music in 2013 and a Professional Studies Certificate from Manhattan School of Music in 2017. Since completing his degrees, Jae has established his private teaching studio in Brooklyn, apprenticed as a piano tuner, and is currently the resident piano technician at the Soapbox Gallery, a performance venue in Brooklyn. Jae is also an active volunteer with Sing for Hope, an organization that helps New York artists and musicians use their art to give back to their community. Before COVID-19, he served as the project leader at the NY Memory Center, bringing monthly concerts to those affected by Alzheimer's and dementia. He has also volunteered at many hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout New York City such as Mount Sinai Hospital, James J. Peters Veterans Medical Center, and The Bridge NY.
