About Siempre La Guitarra

Siempre La Guitarra is a new classical music concert series presented by David Tutmark and Oregon Guitar Studio. David was inspired by his love of the guitar and classical music to create the Siempre La Guitarra concert series here in the Pacific Northwest. Our mission is to bring great guitar players from all over the world into our local guitar community, as well as create performance opportunities for guitarists from the region.

Siempre La Guitarra also aims to provide educational opportunities with the featured artists. We will focus on providing the best possible experience for visiting artists as well as the audience. With these values in mind, we hope to continue building the Portland area as a viable destination for concert guitarists and contribute to the guitar community here in the Northwest.

About Rubén González Ávila, guitar

Rubén González Ávila was born in Holguin, Cuba, is a graduate of the Superior Institute of Art in Havana, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in music with a specialty in classical guitar. Their teachers were Alina Quesada, Ephraim Amador, and Aldo Rodriguez; he also participated in master classes of the maestro of guitar, Leo Brouwer.

Mr. González Is the Director General of the National Competition and International Guitar Festival of Santo Domingo. He has played in important concert halls and theaters in several countries of the world, such as the Hall W. Lutoslawski of Warsaw, Teresa Carreño Theater of Venezuela, Carlos Piantini Hall of the National Theater of Santo Domingo, Teatro Nacional de Cuba, Ingalls Recital Hall of the New Jersey City University, The Henegar Center for the Arts in Melbourne, Marylhurst University in Portland, Settlemant Music School of Mary Louis Curtis, invited by the Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society in its 40th anniversary, the Municipal Theater of Talca, Chile, and Costa Rica University, among others.

Currently, he is a professor in the National Conservatory of Music of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and Director of the Academy of Music "Ethos".
