Gustav Mahler — Symphony No. 1 in D major "Titan" ("Blumine")
Arturo Márquez — Danzón No. 7
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky — Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36
Soaring and searing brass works highlight the opening of the GSO's 72nd dynamic season! Mahler’s "Blumine" was originally set as a movement in his first symphony, before later being removed by the composer. Mexican composer Arturo Marquez's Danzón No. 7 provides blasts of brass that will get your feet moving. To round out the program, Tchaikovsky's Symphony No 4 blazes to a fast and furious finish.
