Auburn Symphony: Extra(ordinarily) Fancy
$40 ($32 senior, $12 student)
- Shannon Spicciati, oboe
- Dan Williams, oboe
Ludwig van Beethoven — Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, Op. 55 "Eroica"
Note: Due to COVID-19, Rachell Ellen Wong is unable to perform Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto at Sunday's concert. However, we still have two great soloists and will perform one of Beethoven's most beloved symphonies; the Cuong and Beethoven will be performed back-to-back with no intermission.
Auburn Symphony Orchestra's 26th Season kicks off in the most "Extra(ordinarily) Fancy" way possible with music by Viet Cuong and Ludwig van Beethoven. The concert opens with a Pacific Northwest premiere by Viet Cuong for chamber orchestra and dueling oboes. Come hear as ASO’s very own Shannon Spicciati and Dan Williams go "reed to reed" in the ultimate oboe smackdown! Beethoven's monumental "Eroica" Symphony will close out this powerful season opening performance.
Join us at 1:30pm before the concert for a talk with William C. White, a conductor, composer, teacher, writer, and performer based in Seattle, currently serving as music director of Harmonia Orchestra and Chorus. Equally known for his original music as for his bold interpretations, Mr. White is an innovative programmer and conscientious leader in the musical community.
Program subject to change.
