Note from the host: "Greetings!
"My name is Jae and I recently started A4 Collective, a studio space with a baby grand piano on the second floor of the Soapbox Gallery in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. I am hoping to grow a space where classical musicians can meet, try out new repertoire and form groups for performances. As part of this initiative I will be holding monthly performances at the space to bring music to the surrounding Brooklyn neighborhoods.
"For the month of September, I am excited to host Adrienne Baker, flute, and Nick Dinnerstein, cello. They have prepared a wonderful program that spans a broad range of genres. Join us for an intimate evening of music, a lovely way to end your day."
A4 Collective is a 10-minute walk from Atlantic-Barclays, and even closer from the 2, 3, B and Q trains. When you arrive at the building, please use the door on the LEFT to access the stairs to the second floor. There will be signs for the event on the door.
Kid-friendly event. Not handicap accessible. Bring your own drinks.
COVID-19 Protocols: Vaccine not required. Masks not required.

https://www.groupmuse.comAbout Adrienne Baker, flute
Adrienne Baker is a flutist and interdisciplinary performance artist dedicated to exploring the connections between music, storytelling, and community. Her work often engages themes of memory, healing, and cultural reflection, blending visual and musical elements to create thoughtful, immersive experiences.
She currently champions music influenced by artists of color and works to expose audiences to these underrepresented composers. A socially conscious artist, Adrienne strives to use her voice to help others find theirs. Through her collaborative duo with saxophonist Seychelle Dunn-Corbin, NorthStar Duo, they work to promote and expose audiences to works for woodwinds.
An arranger and composer, her original works include I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free with effects pedal and the Pug Suite for Flute and Cello. She has also commissioned and premiered works such as Just Passing and Running In Place by Peter Christian.
Adrienne doesn't only feel passionate about representation in the art form, but the artists themselves. As a worker-owner at Groupmuse, she is one of a dedicated cohort that brings together musicians and their communities to experience the power of chamber music together.
A passionate educator, she also works as a private educator and teaching artist. At New Jersey Performing Arts Center ArtsEd, she works as a Teaching Artist in the Jazz for Teens and RAMP (Recorder Arts for Musical Pathways) programs. She believes in first fostering a love of learning and appreciation for the craft, thereby supporting her students as they find their own voice.
