The Grammy Award-winning Parker Quartet debuts new works by Peabody faculty composers Felipe Lara and Oscar Bettison. Lara's Sonare was commissioned by Chamber Music America with additional support from last season's Peabody Composition at 150 programming; Bettison's all keens and slow airs... was underwritten by the Miller Theatre at Columbia University's Mission: Commission podcast, on which Bettison was featured in the spring (read a brief Bettison interview about the project). Béla Bartók’s String Quartet No. 5, five movements showcasing a rhythmically and chromatically inventive musical language, rounds out this evening of distinctive works.

This performance is free and open to the public. It will also be livestreamed.
