Our season premiere concert is a celebration of the concerto—flashy, funky, and fun. Come hear a large assortment of soloists shine in this dazzling program featuring two Brandenburg concerti by our namesake, J.S. Bach, and quirky concerti by by Pisendel and W.F. Bach.

About Edson Scheid, violin
Edson Scheid has been praised for his "polished playing" (The Strad), and for being a "virtuoso violinist" (The Boston Globe). A native of Brazil, he is based in New York and frequently tours the world with ensembles including Les Arts Florissants and Il Pomo d'Oro. He holds degrees from the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg, Yale University, and the Juilliard School. After performing the complete Paganini Caprices last season at Midtown Concerts, Edson returns this season, performing works recorded in 2019 on an album under the Centaur Label to critical acclaim.

Based in New York City, violist Stephen Goist enjoys a multifaceted career as an orchestral player, chamber musician, and historical performance specialist. A graduate of The Juilliard School and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Stephen has performed throughout the United States, Europe, India, and New Zealand. Stephen is currently a member of the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra in Columbus, Ohio and is an active performer in New York's early music community. He regularly shares the stage with many of the world’s leading period instrument ensembles including Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, The Handel and Haydn Society, The English Concert, Les Arts Florissants, and Bach Collegium Japan.
