Ode to gratitude for the sense to feel vibration move through every pore and every cell in our being as the Voice. Gratitude for the voice that blurs the boundary between myself and the rocks and earth around us, that blurs the boundary between you and I. Ode to the boundless unknown that makes itself visible through the sound of our breath.

This evening, the Day of the Dead, we gather within a spiritual center to welcome a new album from our friend Odeya Nini into the world. ODE is in reverence to the voice of vibration, to the echoes of our ancestry, and to finding strength as one.

Within this performance we'll explore the depths of esoteric wisdom, the unique acoustic resonance of our gathering space, and the mystifying raw power of one of Los Angeles' most distinct voices.

About Odeya Nini

Odeya Nini is a Los Angeles based interdisciplinary vocalist and composer. At the locus of her interests are performance practices, gesture, textural harmony, tonal animation, and the illumination of minute sounds, in works spanning chamber music to vocal pieces and collages of musique concrète. Her solo vocal work extends the dimension and expression of the voice and body, creating a sonic and physical panorama of silence to noise and tenderness to grandeur.
