Gabriel Kahane — The Right to Be Forgotten (world premiere; Oregon Symphony co-commission)
Ludwig van Beethoven — Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, Op. 55 "Eroica"
Showcasing the vast expressive range of the classical orchestra, Beethoven's "Eroica" celebrates the power of the human spirit in times of conflict and intolerance. And Creative Chair Gabriel Kahane's The Right to Be Forgotten (a folk opera in one act) explores the inner life of a reclusive musician who re-enters society after leaving the internet world behind for a year during the pandemic. This genre-defying work asks how we may find gratitude in our modern world.
