Formed in Israel as teenagers over two decades ago, Ariel Quartet is distinguished by its virtuosity, probing musical insight, and impassioned, fiery performances. Now faculty quartet-in-residence at University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music, Ariel Quartet has been described as giving "a blazing, larger-than-life performance" (The Washington Post) rich with artistic energy and their signature musical prowess. Ariel’s Dumbarton program contains stirring works by classic and contemporary composers exploring the complicated idea of the "American Dream," from Tan Dun to Stravinsky to Florence Price, as well as Mendelssohn's classic Quartet No. 3.
