Like the Ashley River, music has flowed through the soul of Charleston for more than 350 years. Join the CSO under the baton of Maestro Chelsea Tipton II as they explore the roots, traditions, and sounds of the Holy City in this tribute to their hometown. Curated by members of Project Aurora (also known as the New Aurorean Coterie), the program highlights the choral music and vocal traditions of African American culture—inherently Charleston's culture—as we honor under-recognized artists and celebrate their lasting influence. This program features the internationally-acclaimed Claflin University Concert Choir, talented vocal soloists Indira Mahajan, Jennifer Luiken, Harold Meers, and Jason McKinney, and our beloved CSO Chorus.
This program will be performed on November 18 and 19.
