In this program, you will hear an array of powerful, timeless works by four Baroque masters: Tomaso Antonio Vitali (1663–1745), Jean-Féry Rebel (1666–1747), Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750), and Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683–1764). Vitali's Chaconne in G minor is a much-loved work in the standard violin repertoire and has been interpreted by generations of violin virtuosos in the past century. Rebel's Violin Sonata No. 9 in F major demonstrates the composer's admirable approach of French and Italian taste. Bach's Sonata in G major for Viola da Gamba and Harpsichord (BWV 1027) and Sonata in G major for Violin and Continuo (BWV 1021) are exemplars of his finest instrumental works. Rameau's charming and exciting Pièces de Clavecin en Concert No. 3, a demanding work for all the players, but especially for the harpsichord, completes the program.

Ken Aiso is internationally recognized as one of today's most musical and versatile violinists. His playing is praised not only for his singularly beautiful tone, but also for the unique atmosphere of intimacy he evokes as he draws in his audiences. As recitalist and chamber musician, Mr. Aiso has performed widely in Europe, the USA, and Japan appearing at prestigious concert venues such as the Wigmore and Queen Elizabeth (London), Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), and Suntory (Tokyo) Halls. He is a graduate of Royal Academy of Music in London, where he was later elected an Associate. He is a prize winner of the Long-Thibaud International Competition in Paris and International Music Competition of Japan. He was honoured to appear before the Emperor and Empress of Japan. In 2018, he received Kanichi Shimousa Music Prize from his home county in recognition of international service in music.
Aiso has been invited to renowned music festivals in Europe, India, Georgia, Bolivia, and Kazakhstan, and has taught at Montecito International Music Festival since 2008. He has performed regularly with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique, on period instruments, as well as with the London Philharmonic, Mahler Chamber, English Chamber, Scottish Chamber and Los Angeles Chamber Orchestras in many major concert venues in Europe and USA. He currently resides in Los Angeles and serves as a faculty member at Loyola Marymount and La Sierra Universities. His interest in music as healing medium has lead him to give concerts, workshops, and meditations at hospitals, senior residences, schools, and institutions for children with special needs.

David Garrett is a member of the cello section of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and music faculty at California State University, Long Beach. Previous orchestra positions include the Houston Symphony and the San Antonio Symphony, where Garrett was Assistant Principal Cellist. Previous teaching positions include Trinity University and The University of Texas at San Antonio. He appears frequently as recitalist, chamber musician, and soloist, including many performances for the L. A. Philharmonic's chamber music series and Green Umbrella new music series. Writing in The Strad Magazine, Henry Roth observed that Garrett "is a polished and experienced musician…excellent in all departments."
Garrett maintains a wide range of musical interests. He has recorded modern cello works for the Albany and Opus One labels, his doctoral dissertation includes publication of previously unknown baroque cello works, and he pursues the standard literature in solo and chamber music performances. Garrett also plays viola da gamba and leads the Collegium Musicum ensemble at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music. During summers he has performed and taught at the Edinburgh Festival, Texas Music Festival, Roundtop, Interlochen, and the Grand Tetons Music Festival. In addition to performing and teaching, Garrett maintains an active role in the community. He is an officer for the Los Angeles Violoncello Society, a member of the music committee at First United Methodist Church—Pasadena, publisher of Laszlo Varga's cello ensemble works, and a frequent volunteer for the L.A. Philharmonic’s education and outreach programs.

Sonia Lee has enjoyed a diverse career in music as soloist, collaborative artist, director, educator, scholar, and arts administrator. Equally at home at the piano and various historical keyboards with a wide repertoire ranging from classical to contemporary to commercial to early music, she has performed in nearly 150 cities and towns on four continents, including festivals and venues such as the Rome Festival, Nordic Historical Keyboard Festival, Milwaukee Museum of the Pianoforte, Tagliavini Collection at San Colombano (Bologna), Handel and Hendrix (London), Taipei National Concert Hall, Olympus Hall (Seoul), and the early music festivals of Boston, Costa Rica, Hong Kong, and Utrecht. Her performances have been praised by critics as "masterly" (Aliénor News & Notes) and "full of elegance and expression" (Cleveland Classical). Her discography includes premiere recordings of works by Kozeluch, Weigl, and Bembo on the labels Arabesque, Mark Records, and LDM. She has been invited to serve as judge for many regional and international competitions, including the Calgary Performing Arts Piano Festival and the Gianni Gambi International Harpsichord Competition (Italy).
A past president of the Historical Keyboard Society of North America, Lee has directed the Collegium Musicum of the University of Illinois, and she has served as faculty and staff pianist at Illinois Wesleyan University, Scripps College, and the Joint Music Program of The Claremont Colleges. She is co-organist at Christ Church Parish, Ontario, CA, and interim editor of the peer-reviewed Early Keyboard Journal. She has recently been appointed as the director of the prestigious Jurow International Harpsichord Competition.
