Franz Schubert — Symphony No. 4 in C minor, D. 417 "Tragic"
The fabulous 4th symphony of Franz Schubert, written at age 19, anchors the winter concert of the Tilikum Chamber Orchestra. The dramatic opera-like opening of the symphony gave the piece the nickname the "Tragic," though it’s also full of energetic dances and joyful songs. British composer Ruth Gipps' lush chamber work Seascape will also be performed, as well as the Baroque trumpet concerto in D by Tartini, featuring local trumpet soloist Chris Wurst.
