Improviser and songwriter Wendy Eisenberg will debut new song-environments for improvising trio, featuring Ryan Sawyer (drums) and Lester St. Louis (cello), as part of their Roulette Residency.

"I had a sequence of three dreams in the fall of 2022," writes Eisenberg. "In one, Ryan and I, who had never deeply met, were playing my songs, refracting them into a web of ropes of light. The second was that Lester was playing the cello like it was the shadow crosshatched under a drawing of a huge granite sphere. The third was that the band was called Studies in Loyalty, after a book I haven't read that I had seen in passing in a store. We will be playing old and new songs I have written and we will be improvising around and beyond them. The first time we played was at Union Pool, where Nate Wooley had gotten the flu and they needed somebody to fill in for him. It felt like this trio had been on the road for twenty years."

This peformance will be presented both in person at Roulette Intermedium and livestreamed via the Roulette YouTube channel. The livestream will be available free of charge at 8pm on the day of the performance and archived for future viewing. Click "More info" for further details.
