Renowned Harpist and storyteller Patrick Ball tells the tale of the "vanishing" of the last remaining inhabitants of the Blasket Islands in County Kerry, Ireland in 1953; leaving behind them a deeply haunting tune floating on the winds. The Fine Beauty of the Island is the story of a journey in search of that strange, enchanting tune, a journey which led back to not only a Blasket Island community and culture "whose like will not be seen again" but to a long neglected corner of my own past.
