Paola Prestini — Selected works
Magos Herrera — Selected works

For this once-in-a-lifetime event, we're briefly leaving behind our beloved Crypts, Catacombs, and Cemeteries, and spending an evening in the hallowed halls of the United Nations, offering exclusive seats to a singular night of music-making by two of the most inspiring women we've ever encountered. Composer Paola Prestini and singer/songwriter Magos Herrera have created their program "Con Alma" as a testament to unity and connection, and passionate cry for a better future. Here at the global seat of political power, in the wake of International Women's Day, this music speaks even more directly as a celebration of community among women, and the creation of safe spaces where meaningful conversations can start and continue to take place.

IMPORTANT: Please arrive between 5pm-5:30pm for ample time to go through security checkpoint! Concert at 6pm.

Reception with performers to be held post-concert.

About the program: Con Alma is an album and live digital experience of original works by composer Paola Prestini and vocalist and composer Magos Herrera, along with some classics from the Mexican and Jazz songbook, created and recorded remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic, that explores the question of how we can find communion in a time of isolation. The album grew out of the personal and collective experience of this moment of deep division – be it spiritual, ideological, political or geographical – and seeks to use music to create a shared sense of the experiences that we are all going through together, alone.
