About Ragamala

Ragamala was established in 1981 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission of advancing the traditional performing arts of South Asia through exceptional programming. Since then, it has presented hundreds of concerts featuring many great names of our era. In addition, it has been serving the greater Seattle area through various outreach activities, including workshops, lecture-demonstrations, and community events.

After a brief hiatus, Ragamala was revived with a new team and leadership in 2019, and a renewed commitment to Connecting Communities through Classical Music. In addition to bringing innovative and excellent classical music events to the greater Seattle area, and establishing a global presence online, Ragamala is also a community partner and supports many local organizations through outreach and co-sponsorship of events. Ragamala is 100% volunteer driven, and is fueled by the energy of a community passionate about the music and culture of the Indian subcontinent.
