At long last! Although beloved American pianist Emanuel Ax appeared in our 2021/22 Season—in the superlative company of cellist Yo-Yo Ma and violinist Leonidas Kavakos—it has been more than a dozen years since his last solo recital under our auspices (a recital scheduled for spring 2020 was canceled amid the onset of the pandemic). As he takes the stage in a program of works by Schubert and other composers, expect to be captivated like this LA Times reviewer: "His greatness, his overwhelming authority as musician, technician, and probing intellect emerges quickly as he plays. Within minutes, we are totally captured by his intensity and pianistic achievement."
