Formation Wind Band is an outlet for musical creativity and expression as well as an affinity space for musicians identifying as women. This concert cycle is inspired by the journey to rise and thrive as artists coming out of a pandemic and as women in the world. The repertoire tells a story that begins with daring to take the leap, then taking us through self doubt and inner criticism, reflection and reverence for those who came before us, and ultimately ending with a celebration and a commitment to rising despite any internal and/or external obstacles we may face.
About Formation Wind Band
Formation Wind Band was established in 2018 with the vision of providing an exclusive opportunity for women to create, collaborate, and build community through music performance. Formation is an ensemble made up of musicians from the Seattle area that gather for five rehearsals and bi-annual performance.
